During an annular solar eclipse, the moon appears slightly smaller than the sun creating an enchanting “ring of fire” like appearance. The annular solar eclipse is estimated to begin in Texas at 11:41 a.m. CDT with the speed of the moon’s shadow at 2313 mph. The annular solar eclipse will be leaving Texas at 12 p.m., with the moon’s shadow disappearing at 1736 mph. Four minutes and 52 seconds will be the maximum duration of annularity in Texas.
