Floating season isn’t over! The fall is a wonderful time to visit Concan, Texas and the Frio
River. Join us as we support Gear Up for Game Wardens at our annual Fall on the Frio BBQ
Cookoff. This event features teams from across the state, vendors, live music, cornhole and
activities for children of all ages. Come as a competitor or judge – everyone is welcome. Fall
on the Frio is an established Champions Barbecue Alliance sanctioned event.
A dedicated group of citizens is partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation to help
advance the capabilities of Texas Game Wardens. Texas Game Wardens have watched over
the lands, waters, wildlife and people of Texas for more than 125 years. Every year your
Texas Game Wardens patrol over 10 million miles by vehicle and 160,000 hours by boat,
facing challenges as unique as the 254 counties they serve.

What does it cost to participate?
The four meats (chicken, ribs, pork, brisket) and event entry fee is $150. The jackpots (bloody mary, chef’s choice, kid’s que, beans, dessert) are $25 each.
Is this event sanctioned? What is the payout?
This event is a CBA (Champions Barbecue Alliance). The 4 meat payout is $8,000.
What is included at the riverfront cooksite? What is the cost?
There is no cost to reserve a riverfront cooksite. Please note these sites do not have access to water or electricity. You can bring a generator if desired.
I have an RV, is there anywhere I can park it?
If you are ok with being self-contained. We offer a limited number of self-contained sites. These parking spots are parking only, they do not have access to water or electricity. You will need to bring your own generator and water supply.
Where do we turn in our entries?
Turn in will be at the Cowboy Hilton.
Is there a deadline to register my team?
The event registration deadline is February 27. This will allow our team to prepare for the event.
