Proceeds to benefit the Concan Volunteer Fire Department
Join us for the 3rd annual Chili on the Frio event. Proceeds from this event will benefit the
Concan Volunteer Fire Department. While the Frio may be chilly this time of year, it is a
great time to visit and make memories in the Texas Hill Country.
Concan Volunteer Fire Department Corporation, CCVFD, is a volunteer fire department for
the unincorporated town of Concan which is in Uvalde County in the southwestern portion of
the Hill Country of Texas. CCVFD (Concan Fire and Rescue) is registered by the Texas
Department of Health and Human Services as an EMS First Responder Organization and
provides initial emergency care. CCVFD protects approximately 107 square miles within the town’s borders as well as providing Mutual Aide to the surrounding area of Uvalde County
and Real County.
The Department operates with 1 Paramedic, EMTs, and EMRs based in one station. The core
services include structural firefighting, First Responders, wild land firefighting, vehicle
extrication, fire prevention, and public education. CCVFD operates two BLS type 1 Fire
Engines, one Fire Department Rescue truck, one BLS equipped Brush truck, and 1 wild land
Humvee. CCVFD provides first response EMS services 24/7 via fire engines, brush truck,
rescue truck, UTV with an EMS compartment/Firefighting pump with hose and private owned
vehicles.

What entries will there be for this event?
Friday: Margarita, Elote, Chili
Saturday Beans, Chili, Wings
Do I have to stay in a cabin or RV site to participate?
No you do not. Everything must be cooked on site but you can reserve a cooksite and not a cabin. Please note cook sites do not have access to electricity or water.
Are there cabins available?
Yes, we do have onsite lodging availability in both cabins and RV sites. We are offering our winter rates for participants
Is the event open to the public? Is there a cost to walk around the event?
This event is open to the public at no cost. We will have activities for children, a cornhole tournament, silent auction, and vendors.
Will there be an opportunity to try the entries?
Yes! We would love to have you in our judging room. Arrive 15 minutes before each entry to get in the judging room. Spots are limited and are first come, first served.
When is the last day to register?
You can register for Friday night by 5 PM on Friday and by 11 AM on Saturday.
